How much HP with XR's
Just wondering how much HP Bravo XR's can withstand. I'm looking to upgrade from 525's on my 36 NT but dont want to drop the $$$ on 6's now. Im also considering possibly getting Max Machine werx drives if neccesary, or picking up somethign new at the miami show. Anyone run Ilmors 625's and XR's?

Re: How much HP with XR's
I was told 600-650. JC is doing my 500's, and if I have drive trouble, he has said that the Teague shaft in the XR's will make them handle 650 no problem....

Re: How much HP with XR's
I was told that Teagues drive was the best between, Imco, Merc. If you have to have a bravo drive get that and mix w/Max Mach. works, or better yet get an Arneson drive.

Re: How much HP with XR's
I try to stay around the 650 HP mark for pleasure boat stuff. We have raced single engine "A" class 510 cu.in around 750-775 HP through an IMCO with no problems. Your 500's could easily be bump to that, I have two I am doing right now.

Hey lostinboston
did you say you have 4 yr extended warranties on the 525's? Where did you get them from? |
Re: How much HP with XR's
We got them through our dealer who got them from a subsidiary of Brunswick. Whoever you bought yoru engines from should know who to contact.
