engine submerged
a friend of mine recently bought a boat that sank with twin 454[365]mags, Does anyone have an idea what he should do?thank you for any advise.

Re: engine submerged
Where the motors pickled as soon as they came out of the water?

Re: engine submerged
we pickled our 454 mags in the 375 12 years ago when it submerged in salt, and they ran for another 9 years....

Re: engine submerged
as far as i know he as changed the oil a couple of times and says its still milky. i told him i'd get some advise from you guys

Re: engine submerged
Depending on how they were flushed it could come up milky for three or more oil changes. The BIG questions; Was it a salt water dunking, and how many hours (yes, "hours", not days) before they were serviced and fired?? If the answers are "salt" and "days"... Just fold, leave the cards on the table, and walk away. --- Jer

Re: engine submerged
ours was salt, or however much salt is behind our old house on big pass on siesta key, for a few days it was...
|
Re: engine submerged
big question does it crank and as asked above was it pickled if the answer is yes as stated above oil will be milky a couple more times after that you will need to run it and " steam" off the water because no matter how many times you change it there will still be a little water that will have to be steamed off.....or just rebuild and any electronics that had any power to them are trash...

Re: engine submerged
Does it make a difference if the engines were running when the boat sank (it was stuffed) as compared to, say, sank when it was docked?
