454 MPI MAG upgrades

Ok, want 550 Hp and factory looks out of my 454 Mag Mpi's. They are the 385 hp models. No superchargers (I think)
Who has the proven combination?

550 out of your 454 isn't going to happen without a supercharger. Sorry.

800xcr is correct go with a procharger and not alot of boost(psi) due to crank also you didnt say how many hour are on the mtr.

Crank is forged, isn't it? Boost should not be limited due to this motors crank.

I agree, while it is a stock GM crank, it is forged. Dont know much about boost and blowers, but the crank is decent.

The crank will take it but the valves and head gaskets won't.

I agree with that. I dont understand how blower manufacturers can advertise their systems as a "Bolt On" . As Tyler said, at least change the head gaskets and valves.

Why is 550 not going to happen? The crank & rods will handle it. The heads need a little work & a piston change to get 10:1 with the right cam should get there. I don't think I am out of line with what I want. Am I???
Tyler's kit nets 485 and that is just a cam swap & head work. 65 more HP doesn't seem out of reach.

550hp is possible out of a 454MAG if forced air induction or nitrous is introduced. Raising the compression to 10:1 may also work. But what octane do you need to run and how reliable is that hp? Where we boat 89 octane is what most water pumps have to offer. I would take a hard look at Tyler's kit, I am.
