Thread size on Bravo

Does anyone know the nut size for the studs on a Bravo 1 outdrive. I am ordering new ARP stainless hardware but my boat is in storage.
Thanks,
Jeff

Stainless nuts are going to gaul.Merc uses chrome plated brass/non-gauling material.

I did not realize they were a special material. Is a mercruiser dealer the best place to get them or is thier a better source.

Thanks,
Jeff

Oh boy, Ive used stainless for years with no problem. Make sure the threads are lubricated.

yeah but you need to take into account that we are in fresh water. but you are correct some spline grease on the studs goes a long way when taking the drive back off. merc has been having some issues with the chrome plated nuts cracking on the new boats.as of today there is no approved fix stay tuned

I just buy them from Merc whenever the plating starts flaking off, never looked around. Might try McMasterCarr.

I have spline grease. Is that better than anti-sieze?
Fresh water use, dry indoor storage year round.
Thanks,
Jeff

Yea, I use the spline grease or 2-4-c. Mcmaster.com, cheaper by the box.

And yes, thats for clarifying that Mr Outdrive. freshwater. No clue about saltwater.

outdrive man is correct about the problem with the nuts that merc uses they have gone back and forth with the brass nuts I use stainless all the time and merc 101 on the threads, we are in brackish water here have never had a problem !!!!!

Re: Thread size on Bravo

Thanks for all the input! I will be using stainless nuts & washers with a little spline grease on the threads.
