Disassembing speedo
 

Anyone know how to remove the guts from a Gaffrig liquid filled speedo? I removed the 2 screws on back that hold the workings to the housing, but something inside is still intact. The housing deflects when I try to push the workings out.

why disassemble livorsy or gaffrig will fix for free usually just call and mail to them will have back ina couple of days !!!!!


have sent them many never charged me yet

instructions: 1-hit with hammer, 2-pick up pieces ,3-throw pieces out , 4- buy new

well, I had it chucked up in a lathe to turn the housing shoulder down a bit in a lathe so the chrome rim would sit flush with the bezel. As it was, there is the purple bezel, then an 1/8" of white housing, then the chrome ring. I didn't care for the white showing.
And of course my worst fear came true, the tool bit caught and chit went flying. The o-ring seal around the hose fitting got a cut in it, so won't hold the fluid in. But can't get the damn thing apart. Other than a couple of gouges on the back side, it appears to be fine.



They have an $80 min charge for repair. I think this will qualify as a repair. :rolleyes: :D I guess a call to Livorsi Mon is in order. I want to keep this on because it has the old Gaffrig name plate still with the Fountain logo

Livorsi repaired mine (leaking and faded needle), they changed the rim & tested it. Mine had the Cig logo and the Gaffrig name on it. If I remember they charged me about $45.00 and I had it back in 5 days.

same here, charge me $55 to repair mine. Ill send mine to GOODT from know on with a 20 spot and let him take care of it. :D :D

I usually just tell them they are out of a new fountian never a problem ussualy send them 5-10 a year with condensation in them

How long ago was this? They told me on the phone a couple weeks ago when I asked about have the faded needle replaced, it would be around $80. There web site says $55 charge, but new catalog says $85 for repair for liquid filled speedos. Nothing like a little inconsistancy. :) All I need is the seal kit and how to take it apart. But probably best just to let them fix it and recheck the workings to make sure I didn't damage that.

I have a couple of good used ones with the Fountain logo in the std white. They are the Gaffrig labeled Livorsi units. I have a few of the 80mph and a few 100mph units. Keep this in mind if you can not get the parts of if it cost more than the $55.

Todd, how much for a 80mph one? Liquid filled, needles faded?

I'm planning to call Livorsi tommorow morning to check on repair pricing, plus I would like the needle replaced.
