oil leak merlin 3"s
after pulling the motors 3 times trying to find an oil leak,appeared to be coming from pan gasket underneith the fuel pump boss and a little forward of this area, im using milodon marine 12 qt pans, we finally found the problem,apparantly the new merlin 3 blocks incorporate a oil return galley line,buried under the sea pump bracket and the circ pump, this is a return drip port for a fitting for use with a turbo or supercharger rear bearing oiling system that can tapped or plumbed in,we filled it with smumched, hopefully problem solved.it would run on hose and no leak but as soon as water test and over 3000 rpm here comes the leak

Re: oil leak merlin 3"s
i cant tap it because there back in the boat and i dont want metal in the pans, and you can only see the hole if you hold you mouth right and look with a mirror..
smuch= black silicone substance |
Re: oil leak merlin 3"s
I believe I have the same problem. Were you able to correct the leak while the engine was in the boat or did you fix it while the engine was out.

Re: oil leak merlin 3"s
i fixed them with the motors back in the boat,had to pull raw pump and bracket to get better clearance. i havent really got to fully test as i popped a drive during test and i needed to change gears to 1:50 anyway,im shopping for some xr's instead of wasting time on these bravo's as everyone tells with my hp i'll be eating them like candy
