500 efi or 525 efi in formula
 

looking to put new motors in my 1989 31'1 formula. wanted to know has anyone put either the 500 or 525 efi motors in, and what was the performance after the engine swap. will the wiring harness plug in to the factory wiring on the boat and are there performance upgrades for this motor? i would be greatful for any suggestions. thanks.

My first thought is how much $ do you want to put into a 17 year old boat? I just sold my 311 in the fall and went tthru all of the possibilities, decided to sell and get newer/faster. The hull isn't really meant to go fast so I'd save some dough. I know, not your actual question.. good luck though

I just sold my 311 and was thinking about doing the same thing. I was told with 500's the boat would run the low to mid 70's. The harness will plug right in. And there are may upgrades for either of the engines. Hope this helps.

my old 311 that Ted /insptech now owns had 502 mpi's in it and runs 70-72, it is underpropped though and runs about 48-5200.
