For a variety of reasons I would go with the 350.
The alpha is basically a 260 horse drive.
In fact... you might be happy with a reman long block.

engine world is selling a350 320hp bob tail with 650 m carb, flame arrestor fuel pump ,dist,water pump, built by crusader marine in black for I/O and blue for IN , my buddy got one for his 18ft boat to replace a 305 225hp for $3400
