Speedmaster Tranny Question

can you use a 72c transmission? What would the difference between the TRS and Speedmaster be?

Thanks again OSO for putting up with all my newbie questions...

Re: Speedmaster Tranny Question

What is your application? What kind of drive do you have? Do you use a drive shaft or is your transmission "plugged in" to the transom housing?

The Merc TRS transmission is not the same as the Warner 72C.

Re: Speedmaster Tranny Question

The 72c is longer {I think 1" ?}....Speedmasters {3a & 5} were rated for 750 hp...TRS 525hp...Much stronger.
If you have TRS...Look at Konrad drive & Huber HM800 trans.{71c case}

Re: Speedmaster Tranny Question

I have a project in the works and just curious to the differences. Mainly the tailstock and input shaft differences in the drive to tranny.

Re: Speedmaster Tranny Question

You just need an SSM tailstock for a plugin. The TRS tailstock unbolts and the SSM replaces it.
