Information on 525sc's, carbarated.

Wanted to know about reliability, how many hours they are good for and any other issues, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Larry

A friend runs one in his 29 Scarab, no probs but He really babyed it  :D . He's got around 300 hrs on it, Only issue was with the blower, oil was spilling in the bilge area. Eared they generally need a rebuilt(Blower) around 250-300 hrs, other than that, looks like a really strong engine.

Great engines, turn key. Like JS232 said, blower rebuild around 300hrs otherwise bullet proof. My blowers leeked a little oil from the fill screws. I was told by B&M,now Holley,to replace original screws that have pin hole with one that doesn't have hole.

I am right at 90mph now. I am running 34 bravos with 1.65 gears. I am still up on the rev limiters. In the process of changing gears to 1.50 and adding nose cones. Hopefully will be able to run same prop when labbed.

Interesting numbers! :D

Your boat seemed to handle the big stuff pretty well on the last milk run...

Not well enough! I thought my windshield was going to break a few times. The last leg we couldn't keep the props in the water. We put the Bravo's to the test that day. Bigger tabs may be my next purchase.
