Can a standard intake be used on vortec heads? I was told all that is different is a couple of bolt holes need to ovaled,is that true?

This is for a small block.

They make vortech manifolds now. Why jack with an old manifold?
I think you are refering to the older sbc's around the time they went to centerbolt valve covers.

I just bought a nice dual plane aluninum intake to fit the stock 260,I just got a deal on vortec heads so i want to try to use the intake if I can,I just want to know,if I need to buy one I will,but mine is still new.

the port shape is different on the vortec heads older intakes won't fit
