Imco Lower gears
 

Can you replace the lower gears in an IMCO SC with Bravo XZ
gears or are they specific to IMCO only? Need to go from 1:36 back to 1:50.

I believe there all made by merc [merc suppler] and others reheat treat,and other stuff to them.there a stamped gear.I think the gears are a little under 300.oo at a good deal.Imco might be the same price .

What upper gears does your SC have? If they are X gears then the gear ratio may be in the upper set. In that case you need to change them. If the uppers are XR gears then the lower ones need to be change. The XR/XZ lower gears will fit the large propshaft and the street price is around $435 I believe..

Thanks for the reply - The Uppers are the XR gears. One more question - What is the difference if any between merc parts 43-818928A2 and 43-14063A1? Both seem to be 15/19 gears. I picked up a ser of the 43-818928A2 gears, hope they are the correct ones.

The 43-818928A2 are for the XR propshaft, but will fit on the smaller one. The 43-14063A1 only fit the small propshaft.

Mr. Gadgets - Thanks for the response but can you answer this? In the Imco catalog, they list the 43-14063A1 as the 1.50 ratio and the 43-840872A1 as the 1.36 gear ratio. Would that mean IMCO uses different Prop shafts depending on the gear ratio? That would SUCK.

Must be a typo... They offer it both ways I believe.. both ratios, both shafts. They always question me on what I am ordring, so I get the correct stuff. I would think they would do the same if you were ordering from them.
