Im not sure of the chevy's efficiency but we can make that with the 557 inch Fords, fairly easily, 6200rpm. It's a little over 1.5 hp per inch :D

Doubt it. It would take more r's and unboatlike things like very high compression. Put 4-5 lbs of boost on it and make more hp with less wear and tear.

I do not think you will get to 850 on 93 octane. Race gas you can. It will take too much compression. I have been told about 750 is it with 572 CI N/A without spending big bucks for the exotic stuff. Horsepower costs money. The saying goes: "Speed cost money, how much do you want to spend?"

its a 585 ci eng, probably 4.625 stroke vs 4.50 for a 572. if i had know about these bad azz na engines i would probably have a pair of these in my cig now! beatiful engines, and these guys make 1000+ hp with single centrifical blower with single 850 cfm carb on a 572!!!

Re: Can a 572ci make 850hp na? under 6000rpm

last year I made 820hp @ 5700 with this combo on pump gas. 4.375 stroke, 4.6 bore, 582", static cr 10.5, dart heads, crane hyd roller, eldelbrock victor with a BLP carb. in the boat you need a very good set of headers to see the hp, run cold h2o temps and keep a good tune, ran 130 hrs last year. This year I am rasing the static to 11 to 1 and sent the intake to keith wilson for blue printing. I am hoping for 850 to 875hp. gg

Re: Can a 572ci make 850hp na? under 6000rpm

btw im sure you could get them to build a little smaller eng like a 572 and make 850 hp, but i would stay with a proven combo like the 585 set up, good luck. let us know if you get a pair! peace out, rm
