#6 questions

What is the difference between dry sump and wet sump #6's? What is the difference between the old style #6 and the new swept skeg? I am considering a boat with wet sump #6's and would like to know the differences.

Re: #6 questions

Dry sumps run little or no oil .Wet sumps are filled lower and upper.Dry sumps depending on HP and hull design will increase speed 3-6 mph.Less gear drag with no oil.
New swept back skeg design should give better high speed handling.Different shape and style.

Re: #6 questions

The real early K drives had the tie bar mounted on the back of the drives and the newer ones have the tie bar mount on the top of the case. If it is the real early #6 K drives make sure it has had the work done to handle the updated gear sets.
