After Katrina, is MPI any good !!
Had 19 feet of water where I live. Garage flooded to the ceiling.
In that garage, I had two 502 MPI's with the VST, intakes, rails, computers, wires, etc. (not connected to a battery) Cleaned everything with a garden hose. Is any of it any good? Thanks, Jim Rose, Biloxi, MS |
Re: After Katrina, is MPI any good !!
well... maybe... but unlikely if they have sat this long w/ out attention.
at the very least you need to see if they stiil turn... if not then they are cores for rebuild... if yes then MAYBE but all really depends on how long they have sat full of water . the electronics are likely scrap. |
Re: After Katrina, is MPI any good !!
I would assume the worst on the engine and the electronics. All junk. I would bet there is still water in the engine. Everything will be pitted and rusted.

Re: After Katrina, is MPI any good !!
All of the wiring will be junk soon if it is not already. Once water gets in, it only a matter of time till it won't flow current any more. The electronic boxes should be water tight except for the connectors. If the motors weren't dissasembled right away , then everything inside will be all rusted and basically junk too.
Sorry Smitty |
Re: After Katrina, is MPI any good !!
Sorry about the confusion guys. I only had the EFI stuff in the garage (intake, computer, wires, VST, fuel rail, etc).

Well then I guess I would say only the wire harness should be replaced to 100% safe.
