Putting Whipple On 502 Mag

I am running a stock 502 mag mpi and was wondering if putting on a whipple (5 lb boost), would I have to change my outdrive or gear ratio... or just re-pitch? Is there going to be too much torque? Do I have to add external steering? I am running a 1.81 26p BRAVO 3 drive. Would like to keep the bravo 3 if poss. Right now I am running 60 gps WOT 4900 rpm. Boat weighs in at 5000lbs.

The stock upper gear set will not hold up. I had a customer with a 502 w/whipple and a B3. He knocked the floor out of the upper gears several times. I finally upgraded the gears to IMCO heavy duty(not XR) and it has lasted 3 years since then. Those B3 props really bit hard.

Intresting...I haven't heard of blower w/ Bravo 3...I added blowers to 502 carb mags... went from 22'' pitch to 28'' ..TRS drives...gained 14mph..4pis boost..smoked a tranny... added hrydraulic steering..running mid 70's..

Whipple + Bravo III = BOOM. You might get a half a season if you're lucky.

I know a B3 bites harder but I'm not sure of the difference the B3 makes vs. a stock B1 and a five blade in terms of loading. I run a stock B1 with a hydro P5 26P on a 5400# Formula. Mine has held up fine for two years but I keep the prop in the water (for the most part) and use just enough throttle to get me on plane (which isn't much).
I would say, just don't beat the crap out of it and you will be fine. Expect to go up at least 4" in pitch.

There may be speed limitations inherent with the B3 but if you switch to a B1, your handling and planing speed will certainly take a hit. Everything is a tradeoff.
Just My Very Humble Opinion
