Water Pump Impellor
Does anyone have any tips or tricks when changing the water pump impeller on a 500 EFI mercury racing engine. Also does anyone have the mercury service page that shows how to change it. I would love to know the correct torque for the bolts when I put it back on.

here you go,when reassembling I use grease grease instead of soap, it helps on dry start

Re: Water Pump Impellor
I've used a zip-tie around the impeller to keep the arms bent until it gets in the housing, then cut the tie and push it the rest of the way in.

I was always told that using grease would be bad for the rubber impeller? And soap would be the best thing. What gives? Is there a water base grease that is used? Under no way should they be started dry. |

What about KY Jelly? Thats water based. Would that be enough lube for start up. And thanks for the stat page!
