Prop Recommendations 242Ls 675hp 540 Imco

Need prop assistance.....
Formula 242LS , 540 675 Hp, Imco 1.50 Shortie. 5600- 5800 Rpm. Im thinking like a 27 or 28 Mirage, I really like Mirage props. Any suggestions, before I go buying several props and play around, I'm looking to get in the ballpark with something close to what I'll need . Thanks, Bill

I've got a friend that was running a 580HP/540, modified Bravo 1 with XR gears, in a 242LS a few year back.
The boat was a real handful with 3 blade props. He settled on a 24p Bravo 1.
I think with the short drive you may need a 5 blade.

Buy a prop from a place that lets you try them until your happy. We have a local marine service here (Wilsons marine, bay city Mi)that does this,I'm sure there are other places too. It seems like CP performance advertises this too (a prop exchange program). You buy the prop you think you need, try it and if you need more or less they exchange it (undamaged of course) for a token fee or sometimes free. It might cost you 50$ more than buying the cheapest one you can find but in long run is well worth it,Smitty

Any Merc Dealer Should Have Demo Wheels. Check With Them To See What Props They Have For Testing Before You Buy Anything.

I had a friend that had a 242 with similar power, He ran the Hydromotive Q4. Call Throttle-Up they deal in Hydros. With the shorty a P5x sounds like the ticket. They seem to work very well on the heavier boats. Good Luck.
