Anyone ever try GM Alum heads

I was thinking maybe a set of casting #12363390
I know a guy who runs the parts department at a chevy dealer. I can buy these heads at cost. I was just wondering if they are worth using on a boat.
They are the heads that come on the crate 502/502
Oval port 110cc combustion chamber 2.25 and 1.88 stainless valves (NOT INCONNEL).
Are they any good?

THEY HAVE TO BE BETTER THEN THE PEANUT PORTS they would replace

I am using those exact heads, with some extensive mods. First off, what has your bud told you is his cost on each head? I am to assume that these are complete heads with the valve train installed? Remember, those heads do NOT come with the nice roller rockers. Just the steel stamp ones.
So the first (and a must) mod you must make is adding the roller rockers to the tune of about 325.00 bucks.

Search the forum for "ZZ502" and that should bring up some good threads on the subject..
