Re: hydrohoist question

Check the dry weight of the boat. I have a dry weight of 8000# and hydrohoist suggested a 12000# lift. They said under no circumstances should I go below 10000#. Think about all the fuel and other stuff you put in it. It really adds up!

I had a '93 Lightning sometime back and kept it on a 10,000# hydrohoist. Never had a problem, but I know I was maxing it out with gear/gas, etc. Your boat may be newer and lighter, but I would do the math and figure what total weight you will be putting on the lift. 9,000# may lift it, but you'll be stressing the heck out of it. IMHO

Do yourself a favor and check out sunstream boat lifts. These are top end boat lifts and there is no comparision. www.sunstream.com
Hydro hoist suck

Re: hydrohoist question

I use a 9k HydroHoist on my Fever 32'er ( 502's ). . . it is JUST enough. Takes awhile, however ( probably 8-10min ). Your boat points at the moon, and then at the last minute she kinda 'pops', and goes level ( maybe suction under the swim platform ? ). . . you may want a little more for your 35'er.

However, I will sell you mine ( $4500 ).

Re: hydrohoist question

You will appreciate having the extra capacity everytime you go to lift the boat as it will handle the weight quicker.

Hydrohoist may suck to you. I got 10 good years of service with no issues or problems. Sold the lift and its still in service. I know there are better lifts out there, but Hydrohoist is not a bad lift if set up properly.

And by the way, www.sunstream.com pulls up a resort in florida?????

Re: hydrohoist question

InXS, I am with you. When I purchased the Hydrohoist I was apprehensive, but after 4 years of use they are super. No problems and much better access to the boat. I have a side/cable lift in FL and it is not nearly as trouble free or as easy to load/unload. If a hydro would work in FL I would put one in in a heartbeat!

I believe you can add more lift capacity to a 9000. Check with hydro hoist. They have add on chambers I believe.

Well I just watched your video and in my opinion the Sunstream design sucks!

I can walk all around my boat with the lift up or down and I can get off my boat with the lift down! The Hydrohoist may be slow but it's looks a lot more stable. All I just saw was a gadget not a tool!

Re: hydrohoist question

I have a 10,000 lb. lift under my 2001 Classic. My hydrohoist seems to work well with mine. Going on year 5. It takes a little time to raise, but it seems to go up strong. I have the company over every few years just to check things out.

This is correct.

I bought a new 10,000# when I sold my old 10,000# lift (I wanted the newer technology in the new lift). However, when I bought my Cig, which is about 11,000# full of fuel/gear. Hydrohoist put an additional tank in between the two existing tanks. I now have about 13,000# lift capacity.

In this situation, where you have two blower motors filling three tanks, when the lift rises to full up position, you have to isolate each tank fill hose by way of valves in order to keep air from transfering from tank to tank. Works great.

This was much easier than selling and buying a new lift.
