It sounds like you have a good formula for some nice small blocks. I have a 28 Cig that could use some soon. Do you have a specific crank, rod, and valve you'd use for a 450hp sbc.
I'm in Tampa Bay also... I 'll throw ya a bunch of gas if you want to try to scare me in your boat while I'm getting my done.

We started to tear one of my motors down last night and it has some things going for it and some bad.......But dont they all!!! :rolleyes:

It has Dart Iron Eagle Heads, that look to be in pretty good shape, a complete roller valvetrain, but that was about as far as we got.

There is nothing wrong with using the the very cheap to obtane Chevy 400 block, true the bores are siamese. The issue with that block for Hi Perf is the temperature control, a very simple fix is to drill the steam holes. There are a ton of 400's out there running strong and lasting, punch it to 406, get good heads, cam and valve gear and headers it will do right by you and cost a ton less then any other route. You do not have to go crazy on a crank you will not be spinning it high enough to matter.
