Cut off switch ..help

Hey guys if cut off switch cables are disconnected will the circut stay open or close? Problem is I believe I have a faulty cut off switch and I'm thinking that if just disconnect it then I'll know for sure.
Any help appreciated

Depends, EFI is normally closed (opens when you shift), otherwise it is normally open (closes when you shift).

Sorry mbam they're twin 1997 Merc 250 Efi outboards.

I have no idea, didn't know outboards had them, I'm a stern drive kind of guy ! :)
