need a lowrance gps
 

My new boat has a lowrance 2000...it's a '98 and I can't find this model...the motherboard took in water through the speaker grille and it's all corroded beyond repair...where can I find one or who can fix this one???Thanks for any help,Mike

did you talk to lowrance about repairing it? if note search ebay ever few weeks til one comes up

WOW! I finally got a reply...thanks ratman , I did already leave an email at lowrance repair and I'll see where that goes...I'll check ebay and maybe get lucky...was hoping someone on OSO would have this older unit lying around in a box headed for the dump(one's garbage is anothers gold,lol).I don't mind the price of a new one as long as it will fit the opening and the plugs are the same.

you will find a lot of marine electronics on ebay when people are upgrading to newer technology goodies

I just bought a new Lowrance 5500 off E-bay for 450.00. It has a 6" color screen and lots of features. I think it's a discontinued model this year so thats why it's so cheap. My old Lowrance 1000 died and I had to find something that would fit the cutout in the dash.

Did all the wiring connections fit the same on the new 5500 that were on the 1000???Was the cutout the same size???That will help a lot!I have to ask here since Lowrance hasn't returned my email :rolleyes:

I haven't had a chance to check on the connections yet. The cutout looks like it will be the same. My boat will be in winter storage for another 2 weeks. I can let you know then.

That will be awesome & greatly appreciated since I can't find any info elsewhere...I really need to know if the plugs are the same on the back of the unit,mine's the globalmap 2000 .
