Bravo I Question???????
 

Changed the gear oil in my outdrives today. The Port drive oil was very black while the Stb. was still somewhat clear. I use Mobil I gear oil and the oil is about 40 hrs. since last change. I am thinking that the black would indicate heat??? The drives are also have drive showers. Any thoughts guys??

Was there any metal shavings in the oil? Or shine to the oil? Or on the magnet.

No metal particals on the mag/plug. I am thinking, if any water was in the oil it would be milky not black, right?

Sounds like rubber from a seal going bad. Check your seals for dampness.

Yeah, that doesnt sound like water, sounds like it burned up the oil. Do you have a drive shower?
