Saginaw to brazil valve conversion

I have a 1988 transom assembly with the old style steering valve. There is play in the vale and I want to replace it.

Can I install one of the newer style valves in its place?? Is it a direct replacement????

Re: Saginaw to brazil valve conversion

The new valve will bolt right up. The only problem will be the hoses nees to be replaced. The Saginaw valve has flare fittings on the end of the hoses and the Brazilian valve has O-ring fittings on the end. Also make sure you have room on the top of the cylinder. The Saginaw valve the hoses come into the front of it and the Brazilian hoses come into the top.

Good Luck, let us know how it goes.
