Stripped upper drain plug on Alpha Gen II

A buddy of mine just had his drives serviced and they said he has a bad upper drain plug on one of the drives. It won't tighten down...threads are stripped.

Any suggestions besides replacing the whole upper housing?

Ever re-tap and/or use helicoil? What should he watch out for?

Thanks All!

Surely this has happened to somebody?

I know...don't call you surely.

There is not enough material in the case to hold a helicoil. You ight be able to drill out and tap for a larger plug or have someone weld the hole shut and redrill and tap.
