Used Procharger?
Is there any thoughts about buying a used Procharger? I found a "almost New" Procharger for my 454MPI and I am thinking about picking it up for a winter project but I am not sure what to look out for. Any opinions.
Thanks LT. |
Re: Used Procharger?
The only wearable parts should be the seals and bearings. I sent mine to Procharger for inspection when I bought mine. See if the current owner would agree to this as part of the sale.

Re: Used Procharger?
we just bought some used ones, gotta watch the play on the shaft/pulley on the procharger itself. also, if the person says the kit is ALL there, you probably will need to buy more!! at least thats what we found.
also check to see if the intercooler has been pressure tested, dont want water in there!! |
Re: Used Procharger?
If you are still looking call me about your application. I only sell new but our prices on new kits may make buying a used one sensless.. Jamie / Lakeside 570-639-2628 :)

Re: Used Procharger?
I bought a used M-1 and am very satisfied. Hopefully the one you are buying has come from the same motor set up you are intending to install it on. Brackets, belts, pulleys and accessory location is different for different set ups. I suppose you might be able to supplement a used install with new parts from ATI but they cost. The install book tells all with regard to the parts and location ask for a copy. My seller was very meticulous and included everything.

Re: Used Procharger?
It doesn't matter anyone else's experience. They didn't buy the one you are looking at. Before you even look at it, call Procharger and see what a rebuild will cost, or a general idea. When you look at it check the shaft and make sure there is no play in it, up and down, and in and out. Look at the fins and make sure there are no dings. If you do buy it send it to Procharger and have them look at it. Don't let yourself be dissappointed when it breaks.
Buying anything used in the marine industry is a crap shoot. Plan for the worst!!! |
