Latham steering mounting info

I am in the process of installing a used Latham steering set on twin Bravos and need to know where to mount the rams. I contacted Latham and they said they would have to mail me a template because they could not fax it. That was almost 2 weeks ago and I am ready to move with this project. Anybody know how to place the rams in reference to the transom assembly? I guess the main thing that I need is the dimension from the crankshaft centerline to the mounting bracket or from the transom assembly to the mounting bracket.

Thanks, Todd

I believe I have it written down at home.
What is the length of stroke of your steering cylinders?

8" stroke. 16" eye to eye (closed) 24" eye to eye (extended)

Thanks, Todd

Re: Latham steering mounting info

OK,
So when I called them last summer, they told me with 8 inch stroke cylinders, the horizontal distance from the centerline of the drive (crankshaft, ect), to the center of the mounting bracket for the cylinder should be 15-3/8 inches. They didn't give me a tolerance on that measurement or tell me if the if the height should be even with the cap when it's trimmed neutral or up where I normally run. I'm still a week and a half from drilling my transom for my cylinders, so I'm a little unsure.
Does that help?
I hope so!
Dan

Re: Latham steering mounting info

The installation templet for Latham drives with Bravos( 15 JUN 95 print)has a dimension of 15 3/8" from centerline of drive to the centerline of the cylinder bracker that mounts to the transom. this templet is for Latham Bravo only with "Latham cylinders with 11/16" rods and rod ends, or Latham cylinders with 7/8" rods and intergral std. CL. joints."

Centerline of bracket in vertical plane is level with centerline of drive.
