Drive Oil Debris
While Changing My Drive Oil I Noticed A Small (tiny) Piece Of Metal On The Magnet On My Left Drive,about The Size Of This(*)! _________________would You Run It?________________

Depending on what drives you have?? Bravo 1? Typically, if you see any flakes, it means the lower gears are at the end of their life cycle. They wear throught the case hardending and start to produce magent fuzz, then flakes, then chunks. Once the fuzz starts to work it way through the bearings, it takes it's toll. Gets worse with flakes and chunks. Cure is to replace the gears and most of the bearings and proper setup. You can run it and watch the process progress, but they usually fail when you are on that two week vacation far from home.. but then that is your call..

Hey JJ, one of my Bravo ones are at Mr Gadgets right now. All I had was some silver fuzz on the magnet. He disassembled it and showed me what type of wear I was getting. He is going to rebuild it for good measure. You should give him a call. Dick really knows his stuff with outdrives. KS

Dick is right,I start getting metal in my oil after 5 or 10 hours of running hard because of the hp/tq I'm running. When I find metal I change my oil every 5 or 10 hours,after 45 or 50 hours this is what my lower gears look like,Smitty
