500EFI Sea Water Pump

anyone having a problem with 500EFI Sea Water Pump? runs fine all summer. sets over the winter sea pump drys out veins stick to the plastics housing. notice the 500efi water pump is much higher than
my black 502 mag. talked to mercury ,they said it was a problem on
some of there applications... my question is there a better pump out there to replace the plastic pump .

been checking the forum looks like KPM Pump is the way to go.
