Update on a problem I had with a new well.
Last year a decided to punch down a well point in my barn, so I could fire the boat on the hose with a decent supply of water close by... (this is boat related!!)
I beat that point to death (almost my death) and drove it down till I had 15' of water in the pipe.. But I could not get any water out of it.. It just would not pump water.. A lot of people jumped in to help me figure it out and I am happy to say that today I had success getting water out of the ground. I had driven the point into clay and clogged the screen. I couldnt get it to pull back up.. Ended up with two bottle jacks and a big thick plate of steel and a clamp on the pipe under one of the couplings.. It started to come up and broke free of the grip the clay had on it. I pulled it up 5' and tried again, still did not have a decent flow of water.. So up it came!! Put a new point on, pounded it down till I had 10' of water in the pipe and bingo, after finding a loose union, I am off and running.. The well is suppling much more water than the well for the house, so it will be next.. The boat will really appreciate the ample supply of water that new well gives.. I am sure. I want to thank everyone that helped my with all the suggestions.. especially Payton!! This time I didnt twist the point while driving it.. and stayed out of the clay. It is still driving easy, so if the spring water table goes down.. I can still go another few feet without a problem.. I intend to cool my shop with the water from the well and water the lawn to keep the wife busy mowing... Thanks again Dick |

Hey Dick, that's great! Glad I could help. Just a little payback, you've been such a help to so many people around here, including me.
