Crane HI-6M Ignition

I need 2 of these. Anyone have 2 that can ship ASAP and if so, how about a price. Through in some Taylor 409's and we'd be really good. Email me with info:

Good luck they are on national back order and don't know when they will be able to ship.

Jegs will have them Friday. Would like to get them in hand Thursday. Anyone have a lead on them?

Just so you know ahead of time...If you are using the stock Merc distributor, print off the instructions on Crane's website and prepare your ignition rotors. They need to be indexed 35*. Follow the instructions. If you plan to install them quick this will aid you with a headstart!

Try calling Motor State (HUGE warehouse) in Watervliet, Michigan at (269) 463-4113 and ask for Doug Needles.

Kaama is correct unless you find a WD or Jobber that has them don't expect to see any showing up for awhile. Blue you are in NC. CV products carries alot of Crane and so does Central High Performance. You may want to try them.

Re: Crane HI-6M Ignition

I ended up having to place my order for the HI-6's and PS92 coils... I'll wait for them. How about mounting? Where is everyone putting their HI-6's and crane coils? I see Hardin Marine has a bracket. Thoughts?

2 Attachment(s)
Crane doesn't recommend mounting their box on the engine, but I haven't had any problems thus far. I think another member has mounted his Crane boxes on the engine(s) as well without any problems either.

Re: Crane HI-6M Ignition

Motorstate is currently out of stock of these. As well as most places.

MSD and Crane both recommend using anti-vibration mounts and not to mount to engine. I still mount mine to the engine but the mount bracket has rubber bushings and the boxes are mounted to the bracket the same way.

Re: Crane HI-6M Ignition

I mounted mine on the transom between the exhaust. It's only about 10" from the coil and distributor. I used hanger bolts (screw on one end and regular threads on the other and put a rubber bushing in between the box and the boat.

Hey Don!
Right now just rebuilding the HP500's. New Heads/Cams and intakes. Should be around 550 maybe 600HP if I'm lucky.
Winter project will be to either supercharge these or just find new power. I'd like to just get the boat in the water this year.

Re: Crane HI-6M Ignition

When you mount it spend some time and relocate the stock components nearby. You can then plug n play between them if the Crane box fails. Only need to carry the spare rotor then. I have run my used Crane box for years and it still works fine.
