Thanks...Im going to compare that one with the one Teague is offering for 7k

PANIC BUTTON did you buy that engine and if so how is it doing so far?

Re: Is $7,000 to much for a 502 Gen 6 Long Block

7K for a stock long block seems a little high. I've purchased a couple 454 Mags and 502 Mags for $ 1000 - $ 1500 more full dressed. Just in accessories and intake there is over a $ 1000.

Look in the classifieds, there was a fresh built 502 Mag EFI for around $ 8K.

Re: Is $7,000 to much for a 502 Gen 6 Long Block

I thought about the classified, but I just don't want to get burned with a rebuild. Im hoping a NEW 502 comes with a warranty. If the one Teague is offering is the same as Panic Button mentioned, hopefully they'll match it, or at least come close.

It definitely pays to shop around. There is $1,000 difference from to sellers with the same part#

Bought it over the phone and was delivered to the boat shop in 2 days. No issues with it so far. 1 year warranty was included. If I remember right it was shipped from Stillwater and had a bunch of Merc shipping tags on it.

I was going to go with runs new, but they didn't have any in stock and it was going to be 2-3 weeks before they could ship.

That seems like a nice deal. But, for me, I still have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to buying used performance parts on e-bay. I feel a little comfort knowing I have a 1 year warranty. How much hp does the motor put out?

Teague Marine wants $6,800 for the exact same engine. I even drove down to Teague's shop and spoke with the Head Cheese myself (Mr Teague) to see if he could match it. He said there is no way they could sale that motor for $5,300, it has to be automobile crate engine. I asked him what his part # was for the Marine 502 crate, and his # was the same as the one for $5,300. To make along story short, after he made many phone calls to other suppliers, he basically told me to go phuck myself and I was making this price up. So I said call him yourself, and that he did. He started drilling the guy about the specs on the motor. I guess he was satisfied with the guys answers and said if he cold sell them for $5,300, I'll order 10 right now. Which of course he never did. And then he said to me, go buy it, and that Im not going to lose money to pay for your boating. I personally thought he was rude. So much for asking for his autograph.

It's a no reserve auction so of course the starting bid will be high. Ad states the motor is in Miami.
