Slow hydrolic Pump
On my 357 the starboard side hydrolics run very slow and sluggish on both the outdrive trim and k-plane. The port side responds quickly with no problems. What would your checklist be to cure the problem. Ovious is fluid and bleeding, but what else may cause this? Its a 1985 Formula SR1

Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
Shouldn't that be two different pumps?
I would check for voltage issues on that side. |
Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
Yes its two pumps. both with the same issue

Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
Prater,
Like Dave said, look at all the wiring, relays, terminals, and ground wires first. May just be a loose connection or corrosion. It could be brushes or dragging bushings in the pump, but since both do it, I would look at the simple stuff first. If the engines have been out, make sure all grounds are good and tight to everything in the compartment and no wires have been left off. If you have access to a clamp-on amp meter, check the current draw too. OR |
Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
i think oldrat is correct -too much of a coincidence to have two slow pumps on the same side -jeff

Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
Same thing happened to me and all replies are correct...WIRING!My problem was the ground wire from the pump to the motor so check there first...good luck.

Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
I had a similar problem with a trim pump and it turned out to be the fuse connection. It was not making good contact.

Re: Slow hydrolic Pump
OK, I have been gone a couple of weeks and when i returned the drive has dropped from the up position to all the way down. The other side is still up. That would be a bleeding problem correct? or just a bad pump. i hope to get a chance this weekend to look at the problem.
