What should be be done for peace of mind without getting crazy? thanks |
Re: Engine short block what should be done
deck and square the block, align hone the block, resize the rods, arp rod bolts, balance the rotating assm, forged pistons and bore job, screen the lifter valley to catch any valve train parts  id also set the small end of the rod up for a floating wrist pin.

Re: Engine short block what should be done
If you dont want to go crazy, maybe you could just pull the main and rod bearings, inspect for abnormal wear, if they are ok, slap some new bearings in and new rod bolts, oil pump

Re: Engine short block what should be done
The first thing to be done before any of the machine work is to get the heads, block ,crank , rods magnafluxed(test for cracks) to make sure you start off with something sound.
