Cutting 4" Exhaust hose

I'm in the process of installing new exhaust on the boat. The hose that was on it is now not long enough. I have ordered it from two different suppliers and both times it looks like the ends were cut by a 10 yr. old with a can opener! What can I use to try and recut the ends without removing much in length, just square up and smooth the ends.
Thanks, Dave

You can get a nice clean cut by clamping it on a piece of 4" pipe with the clamp very close to the edge, using a razor knife use the clamp as a guide it will take a few passes but worth the time.

We use a table saw with a cutting wheel, works awesome but creates lots of black powder!

The pipe trick above sounds good. I have taped it with wide masking tape and drew a line on it and then cut it with a hack saw.

i usually use a PVC pipe and put a stainless hose clamp on the outside to use a s aguide....works nice....but most times you will have to use a pair of side cutters to cut the wire as it always seems to unravel itself when the blade hits it instead of cutting through it....

Chop saw also. Rubber smoke and smell, but it works great. Hold the hose tightly, so it doesn't "roll" when you are cutting it. This method make a nice straight cut.

Yup if it is wire wound you will need dykes to cut the wire but still can do it on a pipe, I have the thin Hi Temp blue silicone hose no wire it cuts very nicely. Really do not like wire wound on exhaust especialy with long risers to damn stiff.
