Did I rip this guy off?Whats a rebuilable BBC core worth?
 

The reason I ask is I sold one to a guy for $1200 bucks it was a 7.4 330 hp to start, it has Merlin heads Edelbrock rpm intake, arp rod and head bolts roller rockers 9.5/1 Hyperutectic pistons you get the idea. anyway it had 300+ hrs on it I pulled it becouse it was tired and built 2 new ones it sat in the corner for 3 years after being drained and hosed down with wd40 he buys it without ever speaking to me through a second party for $1200 for a drag car.He tears it down and says it had 3 cylinders that are rusty and wants his money back....what do you guys think? I think he stole it just for the core...the Merlins are $1600 a pair...should I feel bad?

I think he should be the one to feel bad. As you said he got a deal.I looked every where for a couple of months for some rebuildable 454 4 bolts and all were basically junk and they were asking 500 to 700 bucks.

I have to agree with tickfaw..........a stock 330 core is worth about 500.00 with every thing that was in that it was worth about 1500-1800 at least as is, Id tell him to pound sand

this is assuming you sold this to him as is

you gave him a great deal, some a holes are never happy, i parted out 2 454's with steel cranks, dimple and 990 heads that neede total rework on ebay, sold everything seperate got 3600 for the lot, you would have gotten a lot more on ebay with those heads etc., you dont owe him a thing! just forgedaboutit

As long as the block was not cracked or damage beyond a rebuild tell the guy to get over it. Just my opinion..
