trim switch replacement
I have a merc 3000 classic throttle/shifter that needs to have the rocker trim switch replaced (no up). Any advice/instructions on how to do this and a pt. no. would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

Re: trim switch replacement
how do you know its in the shifter switch and not in the trim limit switch ????

Re: trim switch replacement
Continuity at the trim limit switch connector. (I should have noted that earlier.)

Look here for your control assembly. Part numbers are at bottom of page

Re: trim switch replacement
Thanks Iggy, I see the parts needed.
To get at them, is it only necessary to pull ? out the neutral button (It. 6) and remove the locking bolt (It. 7) |
Re: trim switch replacement
After looking at the parts breakdown, I'd say yes. The neutral button has to be pulled. Then you can remove the bolt holding the lever on and pull the lever. Once removed the cover screw can be removed.
Witout seeing it first hand I don't know if the cover screw can be accessed without removing the entire lever. |
Re: trim switch replacement
Thanks, I will try it this weekend, weather permitting.

Re: trim switch replacement
Tried to pop off the neutral button to get at the screw yesterday but it wouldn't come out, I was afraid of breaking it. Anybody know more about dissassembling this remote control (Merc 3000 classic) ? Thanks
