Outdrive Finn Repair ...help needed

I would appreciate any advice on repairing two big chips on the horizontal fins on my outdrive.

If any of you guys have ever done any aluminum brazing...I could shure use your help on what to buy...and how to do it right...the first time. I don't want to damage anything...like the drive casing...as I've read that aluminum melts at about 750 degrees. Thank's, Tony

dont attempt to do it your self talk to local shops and find someone that can weld alunimum, a replacement cavitation plate is less then 100.00 and you should be able to get it welded for less then 100.00....it realy should be tig welded then you dont have to gut the drive

or you can do it, boil the drive lube, blow out the seals run till it stops and call one of use so we can charge you 2500+ to rebuild it when we really dont have the time to

its up to you !!!!

Im not trying to be mean just trying to get a point across, its all good :drink: :drink:

Or buy a used pair of skeg guards from me.Mount them on and use the boat for the summer and then fix during winter.Or dont fix at all and leave guards on.

check with a prop shop.

I had a bad skeg on my old merc alpha and a local prop shop did the repair very well. I had to split the drive and take them the bottom, so maybe they would only want the upper in your case?
