I usually take the end of the hose & bevel it on a bench grinder. A little oil and screw the red fitting a few turns but not all the way so you can start threading the blue end in. If the red fitting is bottomed out into the hose you'll never get the blue fitting in.

I think I would rather go to the Dentist then deal with braided line. There is no other pain like stainless steel wire stabbing u.

Take the tape off. It makes it easier to fiy, but you get stabbed a few times from the braides.

Maybe your's are different but the ones I use the red part threads on the braided hose ? I can't remember if it's standard or reverse thread but it definately threads on.

Great to say mission accomplished. After you do your first one and get it fiqured out it easy. If I where going to do several hoes I would buy the tool.

I even put them together with a cast on my hand using only my thumb and one finger :D Now that was tricky!

DO NOT LEAVE THE TAPE ON. to cut to length your hose use a shear. no grinding , no oil nada. start by cocking the female end on the hose . use a lil downward pressure then rotate. works every time. use a suitable lubricant, i chose never seize as to reduce galling of the aluminium to aluminium contact. and make sure you rinse the lines thoroughly.

heres a couple of hoses i had to make in sizes rangeing from -4 to -20.

good luck

If you look at my other thread, I have been totally unable to bend steel lines.

The thing is, I had a braided line on the same size engine sitting in my garage. I told Deb to take it off and hand it to me, figuring I had it made. Hell no! I didn't think about the new engine having closed cooling, so now my line isn't long enough. I'd order one from somebody if I knew what size this stuff is. When I had this one made, I just went to a speed shop in Clearwater, and told them what I needed, and they made it up for me. Can anyone tell from the pictures what size fitting they are? They are on a sbc.
