Braided Hose HELP Needed

1 Attachment(s)
As you can tell my first attempt to assemble a hose myself.

How do you get the red end to slide onto the braided hose so you can tighten it down. Sounded simple when the guy explained it to me. :(

I tried that but with WD40. The inside is tapered the more you push the tighter it gets. I was told to leave tape on. Any thoughts?

Should work fine with WD 40. Definately leave the tape on. Just push and twist. It will go on.

Re: Braided Hose HELP Needed

I had to put a bunch together awhile back, what I did was to tighten the end onto a fitting locking it inplace I then slipped a deep socket over it and used a speed handle to run it in and tighten it. Using a speed handle allows you to lean pretty hard on it, they go together pretty easy that way.

The tool looks great. If I get into this more I will have to buy it.
For now its back to the garage and try this again. I might put the bandaid on first

Re: Braided Hose HELP Needed

I remove the tape, carefully insert and twist the hose into the red fitting until it seats. (can be painful) Then put a wrap of tape around hose adjacent to red fitting to make sure the hose doesn't back out.

Clamp red fitting in vice using some cardboard to protect finish.

Then put some oil on the blue fitting and and push and wiggle it in to the hose, then tighten.

PS if that fitting has been used before, better to get a new one.
