How do you bond lexan?
I'm making a storage compartment out of lexan. I have the three peices and need to find out the best way to "Glue' them together. I have tried a 2 part epoxy and that failed. Any ideas?

Re: How do you bond lexan?
Lexan is designed to be solvent welded, you really don't use a glue, you run the solvent along the seam and it "melts" together. Typically the weld is stronger than the material if done right. Any place that sells plastics will have the solvent-I'm not sure about the Depot.

Weld-on is good stuff. People that build aquariums swear by that stuff.
When I was building a sump tank for my aquarium, I went to a plastic store and they sold me some acrylic cement. It's applied with a needle applicator and uses the "capillary" method to bond the pieces together. Your best source for the cement would be either online or a local plastics place. |
