Overheated Friday Night... How hot is too hot

Gauge went to 220 degrees as I was idling around the docks. I cut it off as soon as I could and left it for a few hours to cool down. Any ramifications I should be looking out for???

No problems at 220. Aluminum @ 250 to 260 maybe a problem. Steel @ 260 for a few moments, probably not a problem either.
