Trim indicator actuator?

I have the indicator actuators that are attached to my Brovo 1 outdrives. They are sticking pretty bad. It looks like I can just unscrew the end and take out the spring and rod and clean it.

Is it really that easy or is this going to explode from the spring pressure if I do this? Anything special I can do to keep them from sticking? I spray them after every use with WD40

Yes, it is that easy. I have to do mine every year it seems.

Do "NOT" put any grease on them, they will gum up and stick worse.

So no WD40 or just no heavy grease?

if they are merc actuators, the proper disassembly (which is safest) would be to remove or loosen retaining clamp's, remove cap nut where cable enters indicator, slide outer s.s indicator tube off, there will be a little washer shaped retainer in the groove of the cable that has pressure on itfrom the spring. remove retainer, slide over cable, clean well, and reassemble.

good luck
