Just got mine in today, they are 208/211, but .56 lift at .050 and 1.6 ratio roller rockers. :evilb:

Thanks for the reply. I have a forged lower end, heads are AFR 195s with a Vic Jr below a Holley 750. I was spinning a 23p cleaver 5700rpms @ 70mph with my previous 360sbc which was around 400hp. I'm hoping the new setup should pull a little more. Not looking for much over 6000 rpms.

I did some research and it does appear Merc switched cams on the 6.2, from the ones you had originally. The cam they currently use has .465/.452 lift and 214/220 duration.

I will need to know what timing curve your builder wants in the ECM when you get your engines. They originally had fast burn heads that did not run a lot of timing. Since you changed heads, they probably will require more advance. It depends on the combustion chamber design.

Hey Bob, motors are finished tomorrow, fully dressed out. SHould be seeing you in the next couple of weeks for the dyno and ECU calibration. I think we are all going to be surprised at the power. The compression is 9:1. HMMMM that would be perfect for whipples ehhh? :eek:

Ok, I installed the Crane 109831 cam yesterday and I'm having trouble getting it to idle. It will run if I keep the throttle slightly open, but if I bring it back to idle to quick it shuts off. I checked the idle air control valve and it is all the way open. Can I adjust the manual stop on the throttle body? Do I need to drill a hole in the throttle blade? Thanks guys.

Is that the Crane 222/230? That should be a nice compliment to your setup. It seems the engine is wanting more air at idle. I ran into a similar problem when adding a cam in my
LS1, the motor would run very rough and stumble and idle. For a quick fix I adjusted the throttle stop and it seemed to help some. I eventually drilled an 1/8th hole in the TB blade and that made a world of difference.

However, that is only a stopgap procedure until the motor was dynotuned by EFILive. After the tune the hole was no longer required and I filled it in.

Yes, it is the 222/230. Do you have to readjust the TP sensor if you adjust the throttle stop?

If memory serves me right it's .509/.528 lift and 222/230 @ .050 duration with a 112 LSA. That's about as big as I would go. It hasn't killed my 02 sensor idling on the dyno, so I don't think it will revert water badly, although I do have Stainless Marine exhaust on it. The 109821 is a little milder and may be a better choice. I've had one of those running in a Whippled 6.2 for 3 years now. The 6 .2 came stock with the 104224 cam.

I used a Bullet Racing Cam 223/231/530/548 in my 383's they run great 69.8 on GPS in a 1987 272 formula.:drink:

Ok, idle problem turned out be an oops on my part. After I set the base timing I must have bumped the distributor because when I rechecked the timing it was off the scale ATC :eek: .

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A CAM MAKES! She ran just over 75 yesterday. That is a gain of 4 mph. There is still some tuning issues to deal with. Fuel mixture is 11.5:1(where I want it) at wot and 11:1 at idle(not where I want it). Looks like ASM will be getting my ECU back sometime soon. All and all I am very happy with the results. Thanks for all your help! :drink:
