Stupid trim tab question.

Will a good set of trim tabs like from Dana Marine help my 23 foot boat in rough water? Went to Lake of the Ozarks last week and got beat to death. I have heard that adding trim tabs is like adding extra boat. Is this true or should I save my money?

Joe has it right. Tabs will help a smaller boat to a degree and help prevent chine walking, but won't do much when comes to washing machine type water like Loto.

You need to do one of three things:

Slow down

Buy a bigger boat

Stay out of that type of water

If you don't boat in those conditions much, enjoy what you have and save your $$$. If you do boat in those type of conditions often, you'll need a different boat.

At the Shootout last year on Saturday morning, we were launching my 28 Pantera several feet in the air, flew and landed awesome everytime. The best ride I've ever had in one of my boats!!

The only thing that will significantly help a 23' boat at LOTO is adding 10' to it :D

Seriously, the tabs may help a little, but you will still get beat to crap at LOTO on a Holiday weekend. I get the beat up in my 28 Pantera although not as bad as I did in a 24 Outlaw. 4' helped a lot, but not enough.
