Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Dallas area to take a look at one of my 502's?

I've been suffering from a fuel related problem on my starboard engine for about 6 weeks. It has my current mechanic baffled. Any help would be appreciated.

It may not help not being in our area, but the only person I can recommend is Bob (OSO member bobl). His shop is Full Throttle Marine out on HWY 71 outside Austin in Spicewood at the west end of Lake Travis.

It's well worth the drive to me and a lot of other folks I know, most of which drive much further.

Jim, thank you. I'm getting pretty desperate, if I can't any good recommendations near by, the drive to Austin may be worth it !!

What has your mechanic tried ?

All he has done is change the fuel pressure regulator, the hose that connects it to the manifold and cleaned the nipple on the intake plenum.

Here is the saga........
When the problem started the boat ran fine when I first start it even after I ran it for an hour or two. Stop for a while on the lake to swim and when I leave to head back to the marina the starboard engine runs like it is not getting enough fuel. Sputters while I'm getting it on plane then will not hold steady RPM anywhere above 2000 rpm. The mechanic changed the fuel pressure regulator and the hose. He put it in the water and ran it for three hours with no issue. Stopped for a while on the lake and then the engine did exactly the same thing it did to me on his way home. He called Mercury and Merc recommended cleaning the nipple that the fuel pressure regulator connects to. He did and ran the boat for 2 hours with no issue. (Realize, by now he's burned 100+ gallons of fuel)

I go out Sunday and it acts up from the first time I got it on plane. No improvement. Stop and swim and the grief continued all the way back to the marina. !/4 mile from the marina it takes off, wide open throttle no problem.

One thing I noticed is that if I am running straight and cut it hard to starboard the engine will act up. Just noticed this Sunday for the first time.

Now I feel I need to take it to someone else, it may not be fuel at all. Port engine runs great all the time.

Let me know if you think of something.
