changing hp500 carb'd intake, and they dont match, quick question
 

Im changing out my intake on my 2000 model hp500 carb. I bought a used one and they have one thing that doesnt match. On my current one, there is a tube that goes from the top of the intake to the base of the carb. it looks like a pcv valve vent or something, but the other one doesnt have that. is it something i need, or can i just put the new one on? hope thats not too confusing

if its what im thinking it goes from the flat area on the in take to the carb base it is a breather, if you have valve cover breathers to the flame arrester then dont worry about it it is for crank case pressure and the other breathers will make up for it the only diff is the original has a vacuum source..........
