What is the gray wire with the....
quick connect insulated plug for on the back of the wiring harness of my 1996 502mpi engine for? It comes off the eletrical harness in the back of the engine. It looks to be about 16 or 18 gauge.
I've looked everywhere and can't find any spare empty places for it too plug into. I have all the trim pump working and outdrive reservoir wires plugged in. I just hope I plugged the right combination in to make everything work as it should. Any help would be appreciated. I'm getting close to putting it in the water for the final tuning. Thanks, shawn |
Re: What is the gray wire with the....
Gray is usually a tach signal wire.....but this may be the timing wire to put the computer into a base mode to set initial timing...

It is the auxilary tach lead.

Re: What is the gray wire with the....
I'll due more investigation, but the tach seems to be working fine right now.

Re: What is the gray wire with the....
The auxilary tach lead is spliced together with the regular tach lead. It is for connecting an extra tach.
