and the 500 EFI pcv sets right in the middle of the lower intake and is vented to the upper plenum, pretty sure ?

you are having the same problem.... i ran across that last year on a friends 500's. the windage tray was left off the intake and it was eating oil like crazy. bad enough to foul the plugs every time we went out and ran hard. we left the pcv valve in the back of the intake but blocked the intake port and removed hose. not a drop lost since. try that and see if it solves your problem. that tray IS necessary.

X 2.. I built 2 454s for a customer, all ran fine, until he changed the intakes, then horrendous oil consumption... he thought WTF.. I went to his boat did some checking and found exactly THAT!! he had swapped his daul plane intakes for 500 HP carbs and intakes (pcv in valley) in order to run a PCV valve in the valley of an intake manifold it is mandatory to run a valley pan, this keeps the oil spray off the camshaft from hitting the bottom side of the intake thus getting sucked up in the pcv... no matter what valve you run the only fix without pulling the intake is to eliminate the pcv... we plugged the lines at the carb base and not a drop of oil consumption since!! Just backin you up Tim!!

I have the same issue on my new 500 efi clone. Any idea if this could be my issue aswell. I know it does not have a liftervalley trap installed was told by the builder that it was not needed

change your builder... old school 101, a valley pan also keeps your intake temp lower by keeping hot oil from hitting it... I run them or something similar like an intake with a built in valley shield/baffle on all performance builds!!! just my 2 cents!!

Windage trays and valley trays are two different animals. I would double check that the lifter valley tray (subject of this thread) was re-installed.
